Walking to a bus stop in Helsinki center today I noticed just how many spit blots there were on the sidewalk. A truly appalling amount of bodily fluids. I notice that there was no place where I could really put my bag if I needed to, the spit was literally everywhere. Gah. It was not this way when I was a kid. Is it my generation that is doing this and peeing the the corners like dogs on weekends?

Clove oil applied with a q-tip to a canker sore made it painless in less than a minute. It actually has been painfree since. However, clove oil is powerful stuff, so I don't recommend this if there are other things that help.

Radio Open Source episode Spread of HIV in Africa describes something that sounds pretty much like polyamory as one of the major contributers in the fast spreading of HIV in Africa. It's pretty interesting reminder that even if one only has e.g. two steady partners it usually makes sense to use precautions with one of them.

I think it makes sense to arm your kids with a good selection of harmless, easily available placebos against for example the common cold. It does not hurt if some of the placebos are fake placebos in the sense that they actually slightly actually work, like e.g. breathing in hot water vapour.

Why is the amount of sex a person has measured in number of sessions? According to 10 Things You Never Knew About Sex a typical lovemaking session lasts about 15 minutes (10 to 12 min of foreplay and 3 to 5 min of intercourse). Does a person who has sex once a week for one hour (40 min of fore/midplay and 20min of intercourse) have less sex than one that gets one of those typical sessions 3 times a week? I don't think so.

Sure, Stepmania is very good exercise for your calves. It can also be used as a part of an upperbody workout.

1. From Options, choose "Holds - No jumps"
2. Grab 3kg dumbbells. Lighter or heavier ones are fine too.
3. Choose a beginner difficulty song (Yes, really!)
4. Do a right hand biceps curl every time you step with your right foot, and a left hand biceps curl for every left foot step.

Repeat steps 3 & 4, just change the biceps curl to some other arm movement, such as triceps kickback, or arm raise. Continue until your upper body workout is all done.
